Kevin Streelman to Conduct On-Course Playing Lesson at 2011 IJGA/Wilson Staff Slam Finals at Cantigny Golf

Wilson Golf, the Chicago-based company with more Major victories (61) than any other club manufacturer, is proud to announce that PGA Tour professional and Wilson Staff Advisory Member, Kevin Streelman, will be appearing at Cantigny Golf on August 5 during the 2011 IJGA Wilson Staff Slam Finals. Streelman, a Wheaton, Ill. native, will conduct a playing lesson following the skills challenge finals and will also assist in presenting the awards.

“We are extremely excited that Kevin, an IJGA alumnus, is participating in this event,” said Carrie Williams, Executive Director of the IJGA. “This is a great chance for young, aspiring golfers to learn from a PGA Tour professional who grew up in the Chicago area representing a Chicago-based company like Wilson Golf.”

Qualifying events for the 2011 IJGA Wilson Staff Slam, a season-long skills competition, recently wrapped up at several Chicagoland golf courses, and the finals will determine the top four boys and girls in three age divisions across an array of skills challenges. The four competitive categories include putting, chipping, greens in regulation for iron play and driving distance and accuracy. Each skills qualifier was open to both IJGA members and non-members in the appropriate age groups (6-9 yrs, 10-11 yrs and 12-13 yrs).

The Wilson Staff Slam Finals will take place on August 5 at Cantigny Golf Course in Wheaton, Ill. The 24 skills challenge champions will be awarded with a tour of the Wilson Innovation Center where they will receive a custom engraved Wilson Staff FG Tour wedge.

“As a Chicago-based company, Wilson Golf is proud to offer this unique opportunity to young golfers in Illinois to meet and play with Kevin Streelman,” said Tim Clarke, general manager at Wilson Golf. “We have exclusively partnered with the IJGA the last several years and we will continue to do so to help inspire and shape the next generation of golfers right here in our own backyard.”

Following the Wilson Staff Slam Finals, Streelman will participate in a question and answer session with event attendees, then participate in a four-hole on-course playing lesson with 8 junior golfers. Playing alongside the juniors while wearing a microphone, he will lend shot-making and course management expertise that everyone in the gallery will benefit from. The day will conclude with a photograph and autograph session.

This event is free and open to the public, however pre-registration is recommended, and lunch may be purchased at the time of registration. To view the day’s timeline and to pre-register, please visit www.ijga.org.
