Fans Will Choose the New Derrick Rose MVP Wilson Basketball
Wilson Sporting Goods Co. Celebrates MVP Success with Limited Edition Basketball
CHICAGO (May 18, 2011) - If there's one simple truth in the sport of basketball, it's that there is no substitute for the passionate fans. As the chorus of his devoted supporters grows, Wilson is responding to the frenzied Derrick Rose excitement in Chicago by offering fans the opportunity to choose which Limited Edition Derrick Rose MVP Basketball goes into production.
This Derrick Rose MVP Basketball will be the first time Wilson will make this distinctive commemoration as decided by the fans. In celebration of his MVP season, the fan voting is taking place on Wilson Basketball's Facebook page, where fans "like" to vote on one of two designs for the forthcoming limited edition MVP Basketball.
Between Wilson and Rose, the ties to Chicago run deep. The Chicago-born NBA MVP would eventually become the Chicago-based company's #1 basketball athlete. The Derrick Rose MVP Basketball concepts were also created in Chicago by the design team at Wilson. The two designs both feature a bold Windy City style, as fans will choose between the D.Rose logo and crown design and the city skyline with the 'Poohdini' signature design.
"For those of us still in awe of the jumpshot-draining, gravity-defying action from Derrick Rose, we're proud to bring this commemorative MVP basketball to reality with the help of his fans," says Alan Davenport, Global Business Director of Basketball at Wilson Sporting Goods Co.
"While we've watched Derrick become one of the elite players in the league, we've also watched him stay humble. It's the passion we share and our collective pursuit of perfection that drives Wilson to innovate products for the world's best athletes."
Rose has been familiar with the game-winning feel of Wilson basketballs, playing with them during his two Illinois State High School Championships at Simeon and through his run to the NCAA Final Four with Memphis. Since Wilson began its relationship with Derrick Rose in his rookie year, over 2,000 Wilson basketballs have been given in support to Rose's camps and other charitable initiatives.
