The Road to the Super Bowl Runs Through Ada, Ohio

From a small Ohio town to the world's biggest stage, Wilson footballs are the pride of long-standing American tradition.

Ada, Ohio (January 18, 2012) - On Sunday February 5, 2012, two football teams will play for the ultimate honor of becoming Super Bowl XLVI Champions. If you drive approximately 180 miles north and east of Indianapolis, you'll find another great team that has played an important role in every Super Bowl ever played.

At the home of the world's only dedicated football factory, over 120 Wilson Sporting Goods employees proudly make the centerpiece of the world's biggest game. On January 22, after watching the final Conference Championship game together as a team, these leather-crafting experts begin a two-day endeavor to deliver the game balls for Super Bowl XLVI.

The Wilson Football Factory begins production of the 228 game balls immediately after the AFC and NFC Champions have won, imprinting each official game ball with the Super Bowl XLVI logo, team names, date and location. They will finish about 36 hours after they've begun, then immediately ship 108 balls to each team. In addition, Wilson will ship the 12 "K" balls for the Super Bowl's kicking plays direct to the NFL's officiating crew. Wilson employees will continue to make more than 15,000 Super Bowl XLVI footballs for retail sale.

The Official Football of the NFL is still a handcrafted work of art, and every point scored in the NFL has been with a Wilson football. Wilson and the NFL began their partnership in 1941, making it one of the longest-enduring partnerships in sports history. The Wilson Football Factory handcrafts over 700,000 game balls each year, which also includes NCAA, high school and youth league game balls to keep this factory humming to the tune of over 3,000 footballs produced daily.

"Every Super Bowl is an exciting time for us," says Dan Riegle, Wilson Factory manager. "Wilson has such a rich history with the NFL, and our employees have been making every Super Bowl football since the very beginning. This is more than just a game to us, it's our heart and soul."

Wilson is also a major part of The NFL Experience, which opens on January 27 at the Indiana Convention Center. The 20th NFL Experience will be an interactive festival where Wilson will assemble a miniature version of its Ada Factory. Fans will get a first-hand appreciation for the hand crafting of an NFL football while also getting the chance to see all 46 years of NFL Super Bowl footballs.

Fans who can't make it to The NFL Experience still can be a part of the fun by participating in the Wilson NFL Touchdown Celebration Dance Competition. Fans are encouraged to submit videos showcasing their touchdown celebration moves via Facebook for a chance to win a number of prizes, including tickets to any 2012 regular season NFL game, tickets to the Super Bowl in February 2013, and official Super Bowl footballs.
