FG Tour TC Wedges Unveiled at PGA Merchandise Show
Chicago, January 29, 2013 – Wilson Golf announced the next generation of FG Tour wedges, the FG Tour TC wedges, which were unveiled at the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. The venue served as an ideal location to globally introduce and showcase this wedge’s world-class spin and performance.
The FG Tour TC wedge presents Traction Control (TC) technology which entails spin-enhancing features for all shots. The aggressive Tour-Y grooves are milled for consistency and enhance spin on full swings. The micro-spin enhancers, or sets of 11 laser-etched lines between each groove, enhance spin on partial swings. The new “Tour Frosted” finish of the heads reduces glare and provides durability and a premium look.
Also new to the FG Tour TC wedge family are two unique sole options: the Traditional and Tour Grind soles. The Traditional sole design, offered in lofts of 48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 60° and 64°, feature optimal width, bounce and camber for the player with a medium to steep swing. The Tour Grind model, offered in lofts of 50°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60° and 62°, feature thinner effective sole widths for players with a medium to shallow angle of attack and for players who like to play a variety of shots around the green. Through custom fitting, these standard thirteen models can be bent to 86 unique loft/bounce configurations for optimal performance and versatility.
The FG Tour TC wedges feature True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts, the number one shaft on the PGA and European Tours. This shaft affords variable wall technology with a Tour-proven step pattern for penetrating ball flight and optimum control and accuracy.
The Lamkin Performance Plus 3GEN wedge grip was developed from proprietary vibration-dampening 3GEN synthetic rubber compound for enhanced tackiness, feel and feedback. The reduced taper allows for choking down with a consistent feel.
Upon the revealing of this new product at the PGA Merchandise Show, the 2013 Golf Digest Equipment Guide exposed that the Wilson Staff FG Tour TC wedges received Hot List accolades for performance and innovation.
“This wedge provides true tour quality performance and great versatility with different sole grinds,” commented Michael Vrska, Global Director of Golf R&D. “We’re excited to bring Traction Control technology to our tour staff and better amateur players everywhere, who I am confident will love the look, sound, feel and spin these wedges offer.”.
