Steve Tinning grew up in Denmark surrounded by golf with his father as a teaching professional. When he was 16, he ventured to pursue a golfing dream in Texas, where two years later he joined the team at University of Texas.
Starting in the 1980s, Tinning competed on the European Tour and over a span of fifteen years, championed two events. In 2013, he debuted on the European Senior Tour with Wilson Staff and won the Berenberg Masters with a prototype FG Tour golf ball.
Tinning is known on tour as the "Iron Man", after undertaking the endurance challenges to prepare his fitness level for the professional golf scene (he completed four Ironman competitions in the past two years!). It has since paid off as he remains in third place on the Order of Merit for the European Senior Tour.
