Marketing Director, Racquet Sports

Location: Chicago, IL USA

The Global Marketing Director will oversee the Racquet Sports global brand and all consumer and grassroots marketing strategies & initiatives.  Working directly with the Product, Commercial, and Wilson cross-functional leadership, this role will ensure a harmonized approach for marcom development and execution elements supporting go-to-market plans, utilizing various marketing and grassroots channels.   The Director is responsible for managing our internal marketing team to ensure effective execution of all marketing supporting both the sell-in & sell-thru process to ensure maximum impact of resources and return on marketing investments.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility effectively:

  • Work directly with the Global Product, Commercial, and Regional Markets leadership to support the creation, development and execution of all marketing elements supporting the go-to-market process/plan to achieve consolidated revenue, margins, and EBIT
  • Work directly with the Tour & Junior team to ensure marketing strategies are consistently integrated to support brand & category specific plans
  • Work directly with our Creative Services team and any other creative/marketing resources to ensure focus and direction stay on track for all creative assets developed (catalogs, videos, ads, POP, online, etc.)
  • Work directly with Wilson Corporate Marketing team to ensure alignment of Racquet Sports initiatives with Wilson Sporting Goods overall.
  • Responsible for marketing timeline development & execution
  • Responsible for managing online/digital, television, print and all related marketing channels that are utilized
  • Develop ongoing consumer promotional opportunitiees, in-store POP/Shop in Shop, and related branding elements
  • Oversee key industry partnerships to further develop marketing strategies & execution in support of category & brand opportunities
  • Ensure communication, PR and grassroots promotional strategies & execution are aligned day to day with category and brand initiatives
  • Work directly with all markets to localize global marketing strategies, grassroots elements and the supporting marketing assets needed
  • Manage day to day the consumer and grassroots marketing team to ensure ongoing personnel and teamwork development


Education/Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Psychology or a related discipline; MBA or advanced degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum 8 years experience managing consumer products 
  • Prior experience in the sports industry is preferred

  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to apply sound business decisions to the global marketing approach
  • Experience with overseas markets and an understanding of how marketing actions can affect the P&L 
  • A successful history and understanding of brand management, including the ability to understand the intangible representation of a brand
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to communicate and work effectively across regions and cultures
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and strategic planning ability
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with cross-functional teams and in a highly matrix environment
  • Must be comfortable in a fluid and evolving organization with a highly collaborative work style
  • Ability to travel approximately 30-40% in region and internationally
