Fairway Bunker Rules

Posted May 08, 2015 in beginner intermediate advanced distance control fee advanced rules

A bunker is similar to a hazard in that your bag is not allowed to touch any part of the sand or any part of the “hazard”.

  • Set your bag down outside the bunker before entering.
  • Do not “ground your club”. This means do not let your club touch the sand. Your feet are the only part of your body allowed to touch the sand.
  • You may not remove any rocks, leaves or anything around the golf ball.
  • The ball must be played as it lies without changing any of the surrounding elements.
  • You may bring the rake into the bunker as long as you do not rake the sand. Bring it in and drop it a few feet from your ball out of the way.
