Fairway Bunker Tip

Posted May 19, 2015 in beginner intermediate advanced distance control feel tips

Hitting a bunker shot is very similar to a fairway shot. When you step in the bunker you want to make sure you follow a few basic steps:

  • Dig your feet into the sand for a stable, solid base.
  • Since digging your feet into the sand makes you lower than normal at address, remember to choke down on the club slightly (choking down is when you grip lower on the club than normal).
  • Work on keeping your lower body still. The less movement on the backswing will keep you stay stable and make better contact.
  • Lastly, strike the shot as you would a shot from the fairway. You want to catch ball first then take some sand.
