Padraig Harrington Signs New Multi-Year Deal With Wilson Golf
CHICAGO, December 11, 2012 – Three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington has re-signed with Wilson Golf in a multi-year deal that will continue his commitment to Wilson Staff clubs on both the PGA and European Tours.
He first signed with Wilson Golf back in 1998 and went on to win three Majors in 13 months, including back-to-back Open Championships in 2007 and 2008. During his 15 years playing with Wilson Staff clubs, Padraig has amassed around $50 million in prize money and won 26 tournaments worldwide.
The popular Irishman will continue to play the Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 irons that helped him score his lowest round as a professional (61) at this year’s Transitions Championship and also claim the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in October.
Building on impressive showings at this year’s Masters (T8) and US Open (T4), Padraig will be putting into play the new FG Tour TC Wedges featuring Traction Control technology and the new D-100 Hybrids in his Pro Tour bag, while featuring the Wilson Staff logo on his headwear.
“I’m delighted to have renewed my relationship with Wilson Golf and continue our long association,” said Harrington. “I can always rely on Wilson Staff clubs when it really matters and the support I get out on the Tour is second to none.
“I love the feel and control I get from the FG Tour V2 irons and I'm sure they will continue to serve me well on Tour next year,” added Padraig, who first used a Gene Sarazen 5-iron from Wilson Staff when he was just five years of age.
“We’re thrilled that Padraig has re-signed with us and will continue his career with our equipment,” said Tim Clarke, General Manager of Wilson Golf. “Padraig is a great ambassador for our brand and the game itself, and we look forward to working with him to deliver more success in the coming years.”
Harrington will also uphold his role as a Wilson Staff Advisory Member, helping with the development of clubs for the brand that has delivered an unrivalled number of Major wins with its irons (61) and wedges (82)..
