Wilson Respects the Past, Embraces Future with Spring/Summer ’12 Apparel Line

Heritage Tennis Brand Continues Momentum in Category with Both Young and Classic Styles and Exclusive Performance Technologies Available for Pro Athletes and Consumers

[CHICAGO] – Wilson Racquet Sports continues its recent, successful expansion into the apparel category with the launch of its Spring/Summer ’12 line.  Wilson’s new collection pays homage to its deep history and the strong style surrounding the sport of tennis but also looks to the future with pieces designed specifically for tennis’s next generation.  Wilson’s exclusive Tri-Color Burn Out, Liquid Stretch and Laser Technology performance components will service every player – from Wilson sponsored athletes to the novice player – as the same styles worn by players in Grand Slam tournaments will be available at retail.

“This is a dynamic collection that really exemplifies where the sport of tennis has been and where it’s quickly going,” said Claire Ortiz, global apparel director for Wilson Racquet Sports.  “Our heritage collection exudes the period in time when the sport’s top athletes were in the same category as iconic rock stars.  Now there’s a new school of tennis where our more future-forward collection also resonates.”

For 2012, Wilson’s exclusive performance technologies speak to an athlete’s specific needs, incorporating smart design, premium technical fabrics and athletic fit.  New features for 2012 include:

  • Wilson’s Tri-Color Burn Out technology is the most advanced technique in providing dynamic visual details and designs that are completely seamless, allowing for customized cooling features constructed right into the fabric in more colors and designs than previously possible.
  • Wilson’s Liquid Stretch technology provides intuitive movement of the fabric with the body, creating additional comfort and support while maintaining lightness and breathability.
  • Wilson’s Laser Technology eliminates the use of seams in high stress and high movement areas of the body, allowing for a lightweight garment with laser-zoned ventilation and seamless construction.

“We incorporated these exclusive, highly technical fabric technologies to arm our athletes with what they need to reach the speed and agility of today’s level of play, and the look of power and distinction they gravitate toward. Wilson is leading in innovation in 2012 to support tennis’s new, top players," Ortiz continued.
