WHO’S ALEX ROCA?
AN ALL-ROUNDER WHO NEVER GIVES UP
Alex Roca Campillo (Barcelona, 1991) suffered from herpetic viral encephalitis (cerebral herpes) at the age of 6 months, a disease that gave him cerebral palsy. This caused a physical disability that affected 76% of the left side of his body. The doctors never believed that he could survive, although his hard work and determination has led him to preserve beyond the imaginable.
Due to his condition, Alex has reduced mobility on the left side of his body and communicates through sign language. He’s a huge sports fan and has become an example of self-determination. Alex runs marathons, gives conferences, and is never intimidated by a challenge.
In his life, he has overcome many barriers. He sees sports as an avenue of self-improvement, that’s why it plays a crucial role in his daily life. He stated, “I am passionate about challenges and love trying new sports: running, cycling, and now, padel. With my example, I want to show people that limits are set by us individually”.
Alex’s motto is "You set your own limits" and we cannot agree more. For this reason, we have chosen him as a Wilson Padel ambassador and are collaborating with him to make padel more inclusive. We firmly believe that in any sport, everyone, regardless of their gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, or ability, deserves equal treatment, opportunities, and to feel included.

WILSON x ALEX ROCA - “LIMIT YOUR FEARS” CAMPAIGN
In April 2022, we had our “Limit Your Fears” campaign shoot with Alex Roca near Barcelona. We were lucky to spend time with such an inspiring individual and athlete. In fact, Alex made an enormous effort to attend the shoot as he had been hospitalized a few days before. It has been a pleasure working with him and being able to join forces to promote inclusivity in padel.

Together with Alex, we ask you to set your own limits—don’t let anyone else set them for you.
It’s often said that you shouldn’t limit yourself, but we believe you should. We invite you to limit the opinion of others, negative thoughts, frustration, aversion, disappointment… In a nutshell, limit everything that holds you back.
“At Wilson we firmly believe in padel as an inclusive sport, that’s why we are glad to collaborate with Alex Roca to promote it. There is no better person than someone who understands limitations to know where to set them and to invite everyone to try padel”, said the Global Business Director of Wilson Padel, Iñaki Cabrera.
On his personal website Alex explains that his aim is to raise awareness and bring society closer to disability. He wants to change the mentality of those who believe that disabled people can’t fight or overcome their challenges.
From Wilson, we will keep fighting for inclusivity in our sports. We encourage all to live like an athlete, and we empower athletes at every level to perform at their best.
