Expect The Very Best with Luxilon

When it comes to delivering high-performing tennis equipment using sustainable production methods, Luxilon is no stranger. The company, which originally made a name for itself in manufacturing sewing thread and medical sutures, turned to tennis in the 1990s and quite literally changed the game. Bringing the same pristine level of quality control to tennis strings as it does to medical sutures, this family operation in Belgium quickly became the leading string brand on tour and is trusted by top tennis players worldwide.

Luxilon for the Planet

Sustainability has always been a priority for Luxilon. “Keeping Earth’s ecosystems in balance while driving innovation is our main focus,” explains Thierry Beyltiens, the company’s Product Innovation and Sustainability Manager. “Not many people know this, but our factory is 100% powered by solar panels. We have 1,600 of them on our roof!”

In addition to using only solar power, Luxilon also uses heat that comes off their machines to heat the factory, and they have a closed-loop system for cooling water. Not to mention the more than 130,000 bees that call its rooftop home. From 2019 to 2021, they lessened their plastic waste by 33% and reduced CO2 levels by 43%.

But like any sustainably-minded company, Luxilon knew they could, and should do more.

And so, they did.

Meet the world’s first 100% recycled tennis strings

Using 90% recycled PET bottles and 10% other recycled plastic packaging materials (things like to-go containers from restaurants and grocery stores), Luxilon innovated a chemical recycling procedure to produce a new virgin material. This material, which measures up to the same high Luxilon standards for durability, strength and tension loss, became something the world has never seen before - the LXN Eco Series, three different tennis strings each made from 100% recyclable materials and sold in 100% recyclable packaging.

But how do they play? Beautifully. As well, if not better, than any conventionally made performance tennis string. The hexagon shape of the LXN Eco Power string provides grippy edges, offering more control and spin on full swings. It's a balance between firmness and feedback, offering high durability with enough feel and forgiveness to keep you connected to the ball.
