How to Solve a Slice
Want to eliminate your golf slice and hit beautiful, consistent draws? Wilson Advisory Staff Member, Jake Thurm, shares an easy drill that will help you do just that.
Slicing the golf ball is a common error amateur golfers make, but it doesn’t need to be a difficult error to correct.
A slice occurs when the path of your swing veers too far left or right with the face of the golf club open. There is usually a lack of rotation in the player's torso during the swing, causing their arms and shoulders to move incorrectly.
Wilson Advisory Staff Member and one of Golf Digest's “Best Young Teachers in America”, Jake Thurm, has an easy drill anyone can use to help solve their slice.
Thurm recommends you place an additional golf ball next to your original ball. This new ball must be placed one ball outside and one ball back of the golf ball you will be hitting.
Once you have your practice setup established, go ahead and get swinging. If you can avoid hitting the outside golf ball and your alignment sticks, you have done the drill correctly!
