Marina Martinez Lobo: From Tennis Player to Professional Padel Player
Marina Martinez Lobo (Born in Alicante, Spain in 2003) is a professional padel player who combines her passion for the sport with her studies in Business Administration and Management. She currently plays on the professional circuit and travels around the world to compete in tournaments. This rising padel star has established herself as one of the most outstanding players of her generation, and we are very proud that she is an ambassador for Wilson Padel.
Marina grew up in a very sporty family who was fond of all types of racquet sports. Both she and her brother started playing tennis when they were young, but when her brother switched to padel, she decided to give it a try, too. The rest is history. She was hooked on this new sport, and there was no turning back. If you want to learn more about the differences between different racquet sports, check out this post.
Behind the Scenes with Marina
When asking about her biggest strength in padel, Marina explained that her backcourt game, along with her competitive personality, gives her an edge. This is very evident in her tournament results, where she won the Women’s Padel World Championships with the Spanish National Team as a junior. She was a key factor in the team’s success, and she was honored to represent her country at this prestigious event. In addition, she played doubles in the World Championship, and she reached the semifinals in her category. Watch the video below to get the inside scoop on how Marina felt playing on this team.

All About Marina
During her stay in Chile for a professional circuit tournament, she dedicated some of her free time for an interview with the Wilson team. We were able to ask a few questions about her professional career and future goals. Read on to learn more about one of the most promising Spanish female padel players of the new generation:
Wilson: What is a day in the life of Marina like?
Marina: I train every day. I wake up and train in the morning, and then I have the afternoon to rest and study. Or I train in the morning, stop for lunch, and then train again and study.
Wilson: How do you balance your studies with the demanding life of a professional player?
Marina: Since I study online and not in-person, attending classes or exams is not a problem, and I can adapt. I study every day after training to keep up.
Wilson: How did you go from a recreational player to a professional padel player?
Marina: Because I played my first tournament, a Spanish championship, and it went very well for me, I gradually got into more tournaments. And when I finished my junior career, I decided to dedicate more time to competing professionally.
Wilson: Have there been any difficult moments in your sporting career so far?
Marina: Honestly, no. Luckily, I haven't had any major injuries, and I consider things have gone pretty well for me.
Wilson: What is your best sporting moment?
Marina: I would say my junior years competing with the Spanish National Team because it was a week of living together with many people from different countries. I liked the fact that I got to know and interact with new people. Also, the atmosphere of the audience, where both Spanish people and those from other countries were cheering with horns, is something you don't see in other tournaments. It was very fun.
Wilson: What other hobbies do you have? What do you like to do in your free time?
Marina: In the pre-season, since I have more days off, I like to play tennis. I think it helps me play padel, and it complements me. I also like to walk in the mountains with my dogs to distract myself a little from the padel court.
Wilson: About your faithful training gear... can you tell our readers which padel racquet and accessories you use?
Marina: I use the Bela LT, and I love the design and the fact that it’s white. I also really like the features of the detachable wrist cord and the fact that you can remove and change it. As for grips, I only use one because I like it thin so I can hold it well.
Wilson: How many padel rackets do you bring to tournaments?
Marina: I usually bring 3 padel rackets to tournaments just in case or if it gets hot, I like to have more than one, but it depends a bit on the place I go.
Wilson: What do you think of Wilson shoes?
Marina: I am very happy with the ones I have because I must wear insoles, and my podiatrist gave me the green light to play with them. Also, they are wide and very comfortable.
Wilson: We have also seen you wearing our new Sportswear Collection, what do you think of it?
Marina: First and foremost, for me I always want to feel comfortable in my clothes while I play. With this collection, I feel exactly this way. Every piece adapts very well to my body and my movements. Also, I value aesthetics very much, and I think it's a very elegant collection.
Wilson: Finally, could you tell us why you decided to be an ambassador for Wilson Padel?
Marina: I think Wilson is a very reputable and serious brand, and the staff is amazing. I’ve felt very comfortable with everyone at Wilson that I’ve dealt with, so I’m very happy. In addition, it’s a well-established and internationally renowned brand, and it’s one of the best in padel.
