ABOUT ULTRA

The modern Ultra came on the scene in 2015 after a strong resurgence in the popularity of the power frame. To that point, we had been focused on control-oriented frames like Pro Staff or Blade, but as more and more players asked for “easy power”, we decided to give it a go…and we’re sure glad we did. Our new Ultra franchise arrived with a bang, landing the “Best New Line” award in Tennis Magazine that year. Here we are, five years and three versions later; the Ultra v3 line is a racket packed with modern features all designed to provide easy power on every shot. Learn more about the technology behind Ultra.

WHO SHOULD USE ULTRA?

We wanted to make a racket for players looking for that extra boost, whether you’re a junior player whose muscles are still developing or a senior player who wants a little more “umph” behind their shots; there is a racket in the Ultra line designed just for you. Below are the models and our recommended player type for each… you can learn more about the latest technology in our new Ultra line.

Ultra 100: The Ultra 100 is the most popular and wide-appealing frame in the Ultra franchise. This frame is designed specifically for competitive players ages 16 and up who prefer a powerful frame, as well as new adult players working towards playing in a league. Our intent is for these players to feel added performance and power of Ultra behind every shot.

Ultra 100L: The Ultra 100L is a slightly lighter version of the Ultra 100 and is designed for junior players ages 14 to 16 as they transition up in weight. This racket is also great for new adult players looking for a slightly lighter frame to increase their racket head speed.

Ultra 100UL: The Ultra 100UL is a great first full-size racket for junior players ages 12-14 starting to compete in tournaments. We’ve designed the Ultra line to have three 100-square-inch rackets of varying weights so that these players can increase the weight of their frame as they get older and their muscles develop without losing the familiar feeling they’re used to in their racket. The Ultra 100UL is the first in that tiered weighting approach.

Ultra 108: The Ultra 108 is designed as a light, oversized frame for senior adult players looking for more power behind their shots as well as more reach on those hard-to-get balls, whether playing at the baseline or the net. This racket has also found favor among more experienced players who have always preferred an oversized, stable racket.

Ultra Pro: The Ultra Pro is a tour-optimized version of our Ultra franchise that offers a significantly different feeling than the rest of the line. This heavy, thin frame includes a dense string bed…all designed for maximum control. We would recommend this frame only to advanced, competitive players…specifically college tennis or on tour.

DID YOU KNOW?

Hana Mandlikova playing with Ultra racket

Our original Ultra tennis racket franchise started in the mid-80s as a more powerful graphite option when graphite tennis rackets were still fairly new on the scene. We braided Ultra’s graphite with boron, the most stable racket material available at that time, to generate that additional power. In 1985, Ultra struck success as Hana Mandlikova (above) won the US Open that year playing with Ultra, and then followed it with a 1987 Australian Open title.
