Football Sizes
Men's Official footballs measure slightly smaller than an official NFL-sized football. Depending on the player's hand size, the Men's Official ball works well for ages 14 and up.
Women's size footballs are designed for female athletes ages 13+ in both flag and tackle football. The smaller circumference supports better grip and control for female players with smaller hands. In overall size, it's very similar to a boys' youth size football.
Youth size footballs accommodate players ages 12 to 14. These balls are close in size to the Men's Official balls and meet the needs of experienced players. At this age, players grow quickly, and this size football fits those developing hands.
Children ages 9 to 12 are ready for Junior class footballs. These children still have smaller hands than adults, but they also have more experience, skill, and strength. They can handle this larger ball without issue.
Pee wee footballs fit the hands of children ages 6 to 9. These small footballs allow children to grip the ball correctly and enjoy the success of learning to throw it accurately. This ball size also doesn't overload the child's arm with excess weight that could cause injury.
