Wilson Opens First-Ever Retail Store

Get a first look at the world’s first Wilson store, a milestone 108 years in the making in our hometown of Chicago.


For more than 100 years, Wilson has called Chicago home. From our origins in a former schoolhouse on Chicago’s south side to our current headquarters overlooking Millennium Park, Wilson is a company that values our hometown history. That's why it is only fitting that Chicago is the site of the world's first Wilson Heritage Store, officially open to the public as of July 15th. 

"Following the launch of our Wilson Sportswear line earlier this summer, it was important that we introduce physical retail locations so that our athletes can experience and interact with our sports equipment and apparel in person,” said Gordon Devin, President of Wilson Sportswear. “Our first-ever retail location centers around Wilson’s heritage, serving as a physical ‘love letter’ to our city."

The launch of a dedicated retail store is a momentous occasion for the brand. Wilson equipment was only sold through dealers and sporting goods retailers until 2010 when the launch of wilson.com’s online store marked the first time the brand sold directly to consumers. Just over a decade later, we’re going a step further to meet the needs of today’s athletes and sports fans by opening our first-ever retail location in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago.

Wilson is new to brick-and-mortar, but not to retail in general. We’ve been holding dynamic pop-up shops at major sporting events for decades, like the Super Bowl, College World Series, and tennis’ US Open.

The new Wilson store at 932 N Rush St. features some familiar elements of past pop-ups and much more. The 2,247 square-foot space will offer a curated assortment of our signature high-performance equipment across many sports including tennis, baseball, football, basketball and golf, plus the new Wilson Sportswear collection, available for both men and women. Archival photos and catalog covers can be found throughout the space. The store will also feature limited-edition products, such as a Chicago-inspired colorway of the Wilson A2000 baseball glove. Additional Chicago-themed exclusives will drop throughout the year alongside some of the biggest moments in sports. Athletes can also have Wilson rackets and ball gloves customized in-store.

Most importantly, the retail store will serve as a test lab to gather feedback and input from athletes and consumers alike. The store features an 83-inch digital screen, a communal gathering area, a special signature Wilson Tennis Ball scent, and tons of tech to make it a unique and memorable shopping experience.

The grand opening celebration beginning on July 15th will feature appearances by Wilson Advisory Staff members, prominent bloggers and media outlets as well as live DJ sets and snacks from Garrett’s Popcorn and Portillo’s, among others.
