Wilson, Trey Mancini Launch A2000 F16HT First Base Mitt
Learn more about Trey Mancini’s glove and his mission to battle against cancer.
Houston first baseman Trey Mancini, whose battle to overcome stage 3 colon cancer in 2020 captivated the national baseball audience, designed a custom first base mitt to recognize his triumph and return to baseball’s biggest stage. The 2023 Trey Mancini A2000® F16HT Game Model First Base Mitt features a special “F16HT” stamp in the thumb to showcase his longtime uniform number in Baltimore and observe his fight with cancer. F16HT became a mantra the Baltimore community used to support Trey during his colon cancer bout.
“I’ve used Wilson gloves my entire life, so to work with them to launch my own glove is a dream come true,” Mancini said. “It’s exciting for two reasons. First, Wilson makes the best quality gloves on the market. Second, Wilson gives back to causes we care about.”
A portion of proceeds from the sale of Mancini’s A2000 F16HT Game Model Mitt will benefit the Trey Mancini Foundation, the player’s organization dedicated to empowering those facing illness, hardship or emotional trauma. Michael Markovich, the Commercial Director for Wilson Baseball and Softball, said Mancini set an inspiring example for the baseball community.
“We are obsessed with making products that our players love, but just as importantly we are ardent supporters of the causes that our athletes are passionate about,” Markovich said. “We are humbled by Trey’s choice to allow us to be a part of this mission and look forward to being a great partner to Trey and the foundation for years to come.”
Mancini’s A2000 F16HT Game Model First Base Mitt is designed to the specifications Trey prefers on the field.
Based on the A2000 1620, Mancini’s custom mitt checks in 12.5” to scoop any incoming throw at first. Mancini worked with the Wilson Ball Glove team to customize his special glove, incorporating subtle style with a Vintage Tan Pro Stock® leather palm and Single Post Web for incredible feel. The Black SuperSkin™ back reduces glove weight and repels moisture, allowing the mitt to hold its shape in any weather conditions. Mancini’s Game Model first base mitt features a single break point design, allowing it to play like a fielding glove when snaring line drives or handling pop-ups in foul territory.
